Occasionally, when clients come to me and are ready to revamp their habits and invest in their personal health, their first thought is, “OK, what workouts do I need to do to look this way or reach these goals?”
While I’m all about finding a workout that works for you, I have to remind new clients that nutrition is just as important – if not more important – to see real change inside and out. And the best way to get your nutrition on the right track is to begin counting your macros.
The term “macros” refers to the three main macronutrients your body needs for everyday fuel: carbohydrates, protein, and fat. When you stay within your unique macro regime, you can fuel your body, stabilize your hormones, and encourage a healthy metabolism. But how do you reach your macro goals every day, especially when you’re busy juggling kids, friends, work, errands, and more?
The secret is to keep macro-friendly ingredients on hand so you can whip up a quick and healthy meal or snack within your carb, fat, and protein limits.
