HERE'S WHY YOU MAY NOT BE ABSORBING YOUR MULTIVITAMIN
As a nutrition specialist and personal trainer, I consider myself to be a pretty healthy person. I take my vitamins, I exercise, I eat a balanced diet of fats, protein, veggies, and carbs, and I practice mindfulness in my daily life.
So, I was pretty surprised when I went to my holistic doctor, and she told me I was deficient in a range of nutrients. My first response was, “How am I deficient? I eat a healthy diet, AND I take my multivitamins.”
When we took a closer look at the ingredients in my multivitamins, we found that a lot of the vitamins and minerals included were synthetic, and, ultimately, my body was struggling to absorb them.
She explained that our bodies have a hard time recognizing synthetic nutrients, so they often exit your body almost as quickly as you take them. And when you’re just peeing them out every day, what’s the point of spending all that money?
I couldn’t continue to take that multivitamin knowing that it wasn’t serving me, but I found that there weren’t a ton of multivitamins on the market without the synthetic minerals and nutrients. So, I created my own!
But before we get into that, let’s talk about why you need a multivitamin.
WHY IT'S IMPORTANT TO TAKE A MULTIVITAMIN
We get a lot of our nutrients and vitamins from our meals, which is why it’s important to eat a healthy, balanced diet. But let’s be real, we don’t eat the same meal every day, and some days, external factors will affect our nutrient levels (like your gut health, stage of life, environment, etc.)
Eating healthy can get you part of the way there, but a multivitamin can be that extra push you need to keep your levels stable and secure. Plus, you may tend to be deficient in one area no matter what you eat, and your daily vitamins can help you combat that deficiency.
Even more than that, multivitamins can help you regulate your blood glucose levels, improve adrenal function, support cardiovascular health, and tend to include antioxidants! In general, it can do some work behind the scenes to help keep your body functioning and fight fatigue.

I’m so grateful that I had that short but sweet chat with my holistic doctor because it not only opened my eyes to an element of my routine that wasn’t benefitting me but also encouraged me to create my own multivitamin to share with the members of my community!
